Prince, Paris and Blanket to use sequined glove, shoes to imprint cement outside Hollywood venue
Michael Jackson's children will help honour their father's memory by impressing his hand and footprints outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre.
Organizers at the historic Hollywood venue announced that Jackson's children Prince, Paris and Blanket will take part in an upcoming ceremony honouring the King of Pop.
The young trio, who have appeared in public much more since their father's June 2009 death, will use a sequined glove and pair of shoes once owned and worn by their father to make impressions in a cement marker outside the theatre.
The date of the ceremony — January 26 — was chosen to coincide with the local debut of the Cirque du Soleil's new hit show Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour. Following its Montreal debut in October, the production is touring North America before joining the existing Cirque shows in Las Vegas.
The ceremony will mark the first posthumous print ceremony for Grauman's theatre, a popular tourist attraction that draws more than four million visitors a year, organizers said.
The theatre began awarding the honour in the late 1920s — but traditionally has celebrated film icons such as Elizabeth Taylor, Clark Gable, Mary Pickford, Marilyn Monroe and Sidney Poitier during their lifetimes.
In recent years, the venue's new owners have replaced some of the deteriorating concrete slabs with hand and footprint markers for a wider range of celebrities, including professional basketball star Kobe Bryant and dance music DJ and producer David Guetta.

Michael Jackson kids to make his footprints 'immortal'

Michael Jackson's three children will use their father's shoes and sequined glove to make handprint and footprint impressions in the concrete in front of Hollywood's renowned Grauman's Chinese Theatre this month, Jackson's estate announced Thursday.
The January 26 ceremony is part of the promotion for the Los Angeles debut of Cirque du Soleil's "Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour."
Prince, Paris and Blanket Jackson have been more public in recent months, a contrast to their lives before their father's 2009 death when they were shielded from public view.
The children attended the premiere of the traveling Cirque du Soleil show with their grandmother, Katherine Jackson, in October.
The "Immortal" show is touring the United States and Canada through this year before taking up residency in Las Vegas.
Show biz legends who left their handprints and footprints in Grauman's concrete courtyard on Hollywood Boulevard include Fred Astaire, Elizabeth Taylor, Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, Sidney Poitier, Clark Gable and Mary Pickford. The tradition started in 1928, just a year after the historic theater opened.
