DAY 1

Posted Image
This is very tall grass, it can go up to 3 meters. In this pic there is not even 2 meters.

Posted Image
In this trip for the first time in my life I saw cactus growing in wild!

Posted Image
On the way we stopped to swim in the sea. I think it's Tirreno sea, which probably is part of Mediterranean Sea. For Italians the sea seems very cold but for us it seemed warm. Almost like Baltic sea in summer :D

Posted Image

Posted Image
Andrejs (our lighting technician) is already ready to swim :D

Posted Image
Andrejs walking in the sea.

If you'll look closer you'll see two girls already swimming. Btw, they were naked swimming :p

Posted Image

Posted Image
I took this home :D

Sand on the beach

Posted Image
We stopped to the gas station to drink some coffee. And there the was first mountain I've seen in Italy. Italy is very full of mountains. I don't think I have ever seen so many and high mountains before, just in this trip :wild

Posted Image
Then we arrived in our hotel we spent one night. It was in the middle of nowhere. p.s. it's not our car.

Posted Image
The hotel where we spent the first night

Posted Image
We were drinking some wine and ate few fruits. The butterfly you see on the head of one girl we found in the hotel's room.

Posted Image
We ate hurma and olives.

On the way to Benevento city we decided to visit Vesuvius volcano. It's a little more that 1km high. Its top were between the clouds that's why the very top was very hazy. Again, this is my first experience seeing volcano and being on top of it. Actually being so high at all.

Posted Image
Climbing on the very top of the volcano. The last eruption was in 1944. I've read it's the only volcano in Italy that erupted in period of last 100 years.

Posted Image
Ppl had to leave their cars in there.

Posted Image
Still climbing

Posted Image
View to the Napoli.

Posted Image
Napoli on the left. The pic without zoom.

Posted Image
We're in clouds now. First time me being in clouds lol (not counting the airplain)

Posted Image
Vesuvius crater behind me :D

Posted Image
Going to Sorrento city. We wanted to stop by Sorrento for 10 mins cause we have some old song about Sorrento city and Italy in general :D

Posted Image

Posted Image
Centre of Sorrento. There I bought chestnuts and cactus' fruit. I've ate home made chestnuts once already but I didn't taste cactus' fruit till now. It's so tasty! It's orange and tastes a bit like melon. It's too bad we don't have it in Latvia :(

Posted Image
Walking through the market street in Sorrento

Posted Image
Market street in Sorrento

Posted Image
Here we tasted Italian icecream :D In whole trip I tastes pistachio, melon, pineapple, lemon, coffee, cocco ice creams. I loved all except for lemon cause it tasted like frozen juice.

We are in the private festival opening party where only participants are invited. The old guy in the middle is famous Italian movie and theatre director Ugo Gregoretti. He was the one choosing who can participate in the festival. There were 2 Itaian theatres and 3 foreign theatres - from Bulgaria, Belarus and us. He later thanked us for our performance that he loved. On the left side you can see Italian theatre from Ferrara city with their Greek director. We established close friendship with them.

Belarus theatre we knew from few times being in Minsk. So we already had connection. All very great ppl. Bulgarian theatre was weird, almost like sectarians. Their play also was weird. They had choreography together with text. Their choreography was really, really great but their drama was rubish. Besides they stopped the play several times to tell technicians to fix the light or cause they didn't like applause in the middle of the play. Also their director has very big ego. When there were one director presenting his movie about the project where he was working with inmates, Bulgarian director got in front of audience and started to talk about his experience and what he thought of the movie. What normal person is interrupting the presentation to talk about himself :o When in the next morning after our performance we had some kind of conference where we had to tell history of our theatre ans something about our play, our theatre took maybe 20 mins. The after us came Bulgaria and their director started to talk about his own history, where did he study, what year etc... We all were so annoyed. It took 1 hour for them to tell their history and about their performance. We know that Belarus and Italian theatre was very annoyed by them. We almost didn't talk with them at all.

Posted Image
We're at the private opening.

Posted Image
Each theatre had to go in front and present their theare with some small presentational performance.

Posted Image
In the middle doing our performance which contained Latvian folksong and improvisational folkdance.

Posted Image
Then we had a small concert where students of music academy were playing 3 Brazilian songs and 1 self composed song.

Posted Image
When we arrived at the 4 star hotel called Hotel President we had a surprise on our pillows :D I don't remember me staying in such elegant hotel before. We lived two in one room.

Posted Image
Then we had to go to official opening of the festival. This is one the way to theatre building.

Posted Image
The centre, main street of Benevento. You also can see theatre building in the right.

Posted Image
Theatre building

Posted Image
The church that is included in UNESCO

Posted Image
Theatre building and festival advert.

Posted Image
We were very surprised cause the theatre building was full with all kind of writings. It never happens in Latvia. Btw, Rita is my mom's name lol

Posted Image
The main street

Posted Image
4 balconies schocked us and we got scared if we will be able to fulfill all the room with the emotions from our play but it wasn't that hard. Italian audience took us very well :luv Organizers sad it's typical Italian theatre building.

Posted Image
I loved the ceiling of the theatre.

Posted Image
Opening.

Posted Image
The guy with the micraphone is Michelangelo. Isn't it beautiful name in nowdays? :D The girl on the right is translator. The best translator I have seen in festivals

Posted Image
Gregoretti is speaking in the opening. We were almost like in the middle of attention in the festival. Starting from the opening cause Gregoretti said something like "I am welcoming all foreign theatres in Benevento festival and especially Latvian theatre cause I had myself some history related with Latvia". The guides called us the best theatre cause we were attending all events of the frstival and they were many - plays, conferences, meetings, concerts etc. We just missed one concert cause we wanted to visit old Pompeii city which was 1-1.30 hours away from Benevento.

Day 3 will come as soon as I will go through those pics.

Leaving the Roman theatre. Inside of it we met Italian theatre from Ferrara. They asked us to teach them our dance we did in the private opening party. We taught them real folkdance lol And they sang for us some traditional Italian song. Others have pics and videos of culture exchanges in the middle of Roman theatre :lol I hope to get pics and videos next week.

Posted Image
One of the events we had to attend was concerts performed by students of the music academy.

Posted Image
The concerts mostly took part in exhibition hall.

Posted Image

Then we had to rehearse and then perform. After the performance there were 3 Italian guys who invited us to drink some wine. It was very funny cause we choose to sit outside and Italian guys were freezing. The restaurant's owner brought a heater for them lol Another girl has pics from that evening
