A friend of mine was wearing an Unofficial Michael Jackson t-shirt at Janets concert. Her photographer was outside taking photos of fans going to the show. He spotted my friends MJ t-shirt and said that the photos on it belonged to him. He nearly pulled the t-shirt of my friend because he wanted to know the company who produced it. Apparently the photographer used to be Michaels and now he is Janets. Not sure of his name though. His actions seemed a little extreme to me. What do you guys think of this?

The photographer did it in rude way? Or he just asked the company? If he was rude then that kind of thing is very unprofessional. Besides, it's not the fans fault the company made shirts with his pics. It's not really fans' business how they get the pic there, they wouldn't even know.

If the company bought the pic then it's even more unprofessional from the photographer.

The photographer was very rude and he pulled at the collar of the t-shirt to read the label. He nearly pulled it off my friend and he was surprised at how this photographer behaved. He also asked why there was no one wearing Janet t-shirts and only wearing Michael ones. My friend said that he cant buy Janet ones in Ireland.

It's not the fans fault :) Now I see how you think :)
It is the fans fault as much as the sellers.

If you steal something and sell it. Then the buyer will get busted too. Even though he/she might not know it's stolen.

I don't know how it works in Denmark but in Latvia it doesn't work like that. If somebody buy stolen mobile or bicycle or something else they are not arrested. They item is just taken away and selling is probably arrested if they catch them.

I don't say they are arrested. But the item is taking and the money is lost. And they can get a fine if it's too obvious.

I don't think the buyer can get a fine. All the authorities can do is get information on where it was bought. Then pursue the supplier of the goods.

They probably will not be fined for a t-shirt.
But other expensive stuff. And the buyer should know from the price that something is wrong here. Then the buyer will get fined too.
And it depends on where you are. In Italy you can easily get fined 2000 pounds for wearing a fake t-shirt or fake sun glasses.

I don't really believe this. I have never heard a story that a fan should be fined for wearing not official Michael's Tshirt.

I didn't say MJ t-shirt.. it's too cheap.
But try buying a fake item of an italian designer and go to Italy.

I don't follow the Gucci or Versache fashion so I don't know. But it is not related with Michael's Tshirts though and this thread is not about things that cost fortune. So I say, it is not wrong for a fan to buy not official Tshirts. They always existed since the time being in our market. I have only 2 official shirts. And till Michael's death or at least till This Is It, I actually haven't seen any official Tshirts at all. And by official I mean released by Sony.

There was also Moonwalker DVD in Latvian that was sold in our shops not that long time ago and it was said to be official but in the same time it was made in Baltic States. I don't think Sony has released it but somehow it claims to be official anyway.

I have owned many fake Michael t-shirts too. It's not so much about that.
They are everywhere. But as long as fans buy them it will not be stopped.
And I don't think it's right to sell them either.

sometimes it's difficult for the fan to know if the seller has a license for the t-shirt he is selling

and sometimes the fake t-shirts cost the same as the original t-shirts

It's very hard to get Official t-shirts particularly in shops here. HMV used to have them but they are gone now. But sometimes the unofficial ones are sold in outdoor markets which is where my friend got his.
