Me and my friend Eriny are biking together for 3 years now. Mostly we are biking to the place that in translation is titled Forest Park. That is one of the regions of Riga. Also Riga's Zoo is located there. Near the Zoo there is a forest with Singing Festival Grounds (a big stage for song festival that is included in the UNESCO). Around there is a forest with many roads and ppl are biking, riding with rollers, running or just spending the evening by walking or whatever. In fact I am not even sure if cars are allowed to drive there. In general the forest region is for ppl to relax and enjoy themselves. There is also a place for children to play so it's meant for all the family. When you enter the place there is restaurants and places that is offering to buy balloons and Cotton candy (candyfloss - you know the fluffy sweet cotton you can eat).
Me and Eriny always were buying something tasty in the store and go to one place to eat. We are calling the place "Near the ducks" cause it's near the big lake with a small dock and with ducks and swans swimming in the lake. We used to feed them as well. It was a peaceful place to talk and enjoy the nature.
Then we went there this year and the place has changed totally. Now there are some restaurant with the music that can be heard 30 meters around. The coast of the lake is filled with restaurant platform with tables. It is not possible to enjoy the place anymore
It's not many places in the city where you can be in peace and without any rush, where you can get away from the cars and closer to the nature. But even those little places are destroyed
I hate when it happens!
