LaToya Jackson says Michael feared he'd be killed

NEW YORK – Michael Jackson spent the last months of his life frightened and on edge, convinced that he would be killed by people wanting to get access to his valuable music catalog, according to his sister, LaToya Jackson.

Jackson makes the claims in her new book, "Starting Over," which also chronicles her own troubles, including an abusive marriage to her late ex-manager/husband, Jack Gordon.

Jackson says that she and her brother went through similar experiences of being controlled and manipulated by shadowy figures that cut them off from their family.

"The difference is, I was eventually able to get away and start over; Michael can't start over," she said.

Saturday will mark the two-year anniversary of the King of Pop's death at age 50. Dr. Conrad Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter, accused of giving him an overdose of the anesthetic propofol and other sedatives. He has pleaded not guilty; the trial is set for September.

However, Jackson's sister called Murray "the fall guy." She said there were other people who needed to be investigated and described Jackson's death as part of a wide conspiracy. Jackson was the co-owner of the lucrative Sony/ATV catalog, the copyright holder of the Beatles' and other artists' songs, and his older sister contends he was murdered for control of it.

"This is definitely something that was premeditated, that they had planned to do, and they planned to take my brother out, and my brother knew it, and that's why my brother told me repeatedly, repeatedly and repeatedly, that this was going to happen to him," she said in an interview Wednesday. "He explained to me, `It's because of my catalog.'"

Jackson had harsh words for John Branca, the co-executor of Jackson's estate, accusing him of being more interested in his own interests than those of the beneficiaries of the estate_ Jackson's mother, his three children and charitable causes.

"They care about what they can do and what they can get their hands on, and no one in the family has anything to do with the estate," she said. "At this point, blatantly said, John Branca right now is Michael Jackson."

In response to Jackson's statements, the estate issued this statement: "After numerous hearings and after reviewing evidence contained in countless filings and exhibits, three California courts have decided John Branca and John McClain are the rightful and lawful executors of Michael Jackson's Estate just as Michael specified in his will.

"Mr. Branca and Mr. McClain have turned the estate around financially for the benefit of Michael's children and mother, protected the intellectual property and music catalog assets Michael accumulated during his lifetime as well as carried out their mandate to shelter and preserve funds for his children until they reach certain ages as adults. Their performance as the executors of Michael's estate is a matter of extensive public record and speaks for itself."

Jackson's three children — Prince Michael, Paris and Blanket — are being cared for by Jackson's mother, Katherine. Unlike when they were in their father's care, they no longer shield their faces with masks and have entered private school: "They are adjusting very well," Jackson said.

Jackson, who has appeared on "Celebrity Apprentice" and "Dancing With the Stars" since her brother's death, was once estranged from her brother and the rest of her family. She even went so far as to support charges that Jackson was a child molester when he was first accused of the crime in 1993 (he was not charged in that case and was acquitted of similar charges in 2005).

But she said she was then under the control of her ex-husband, who forced her to say negative things about her brother. She said Gordon beat her on a regular basis and threatened the lives of her family; she eventually broke away from him with the intervention of her brother Randy, according to the book.

Jackson, who now calls Michael "godlike," said the day she spoke out against her brother was the worst day of her life. However, she said Jackson forgave her.

"He said, `LaToya ... I know your heart, and I know you would never do anything like that, and I know he forced you and made you to do that," she said. "He says, `I love you, and I will always love you.'"

Jackson said she's gratified that Jackson's once tarnished image has been rehabilitated after his death.

"I think it's wonderful that people remember him in a wonderful light," she said.

La Toya Jackson: Michael Forgave Me For Speaking Out Against Him In 1993

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- La Toya Jackson said her late brother, Michael Jackson, forgave her for accusing him of inappropriate relations with children back in 1993.

"I did have the chance and opportunity to talk all this over with Michael," La Toya told Access Hollywood Live's Kit Hoover and guest co-host Debbie Gibson on Tuesday's show.

La Toya has claimed in the past, and now in her new book, "Starting Over," that it was her then husband and manager, Jack Gordon, who made her make those comments about her brother back in the early '90s. She told Kit and Debbie that Michael knew the words were not her own.

"He says, 'La Toya, I know what you're gonna say. You don't have to. I know you; I know your heart. I know you would never ever do anything to hurt me,'" La Toya recounted of her conversation with the late King of Pop, who died two years ago. "He said, 'I know he had you do that I know he had you do Playboy.'"

The singer and author posed for Playboy back in 1989, another incident she blamed on her ex-husband.

La Toya said her brother always warned her about her then-husband.

"Michael would call me and say, 'You've gotta get away from him, he's gonna kill you!'" she said.

"He knew it wasn't me. He knew someone was forcing me, making me do that," La Toya added.

She also said that despite her comments, she and her brother were very close.

"Michael and I were like this," La Toya said, crossing her fingers. "We were best friends."

I know lots of fans can't forgive her and they don't understand why Michael forgave her. But let's remember that Michael used to forgive ppl. Besides, it's his sister, he had to know her better than fans.

I don't think LaToya made mistake. I mean, she was pressured. Gordon told he would kill Michael if LaToya will not go against him so she didn't have any other choice. She knew Gordon has killed before (her words) and police couldn't prove that. He mistake was only that she didn't get away from him before.

I was mad at her and couldn't understand before I've read about what happened and what she had to go through. Then I changed my mind about her.

But I still don't like her calling Michael a drug addicted.

You are too protective of Michael. Michael was a drug addict.

yes, I am protective. And if you say he is a drug addicted then you are on the Murray's side. He is telling the same that Michael took the Propofol although it's not possible cause he was dizzy and couldn't inject IV in himself (according to other docs I've talked to and according to ppl who had propofol in hospital before).

So all those family members telling Michael was drug addicted are helping Murray. What a nice thing to do, huh?

Besides, if somebody of my family would be a drug addicted, I wouldn't tell that in the public out of respect of that family member, even more if he has passed away. I wouldn't talk about his nose, about his wig or personal problems cause it is called PERSONAL for a reason.

See. You keep trying to protect. Stop doing that and be open and talk about things instead.
I'm not on anybodies site. Michael was a drug addict. He has been since the hair accident. It doesn't mean I support Murray.
When you are a celeb, then there is no personal things anymore.
And it's not respectful to lie about your own brother to protect him.

I think Michael forgave LaToya because he understood that she was been controlled by her husband and that she was pressured into saying those things. When I heard those things I understood too. Because she was very clsoe to Michael even in the book she wrote back in the 90's she said a lot of positive things about Michael.

All of the family members turned against her then even Janet. I remember LaToya saying how when Janet seen her at a studio she thought LaToya had some recording device on her and a big arguement started among them.

La Toya Jackson lays out the Michael murder conspiracy

Posted Image

When you consider how frail Michael Jackson was at his death – only 112 pounds, according to his older sister La Toya, 136 pounds in the official coroner’s report – it’s amazing that such meagre remains have provided a rich feast for so many people.

Forbes magazine estimated that in the year following his death, he had revenues of $275-million (U.S.), more than any other pop star on this earthly plane or the next. Michael’s father Joe, with whom he had a famously troubled early relationship, has told CNN that he wants to build a series of theme parks based on his son’s ideals, called “Happyland.” Perhaps “Irony-Free Land” was already taken.

Now La Toya, who used to go door-to-door proselytizing the Jehovah’s Witness faith with her younger brother, has written a memoir whose main, and perhaps only, selling point is its claim that Michael Jackson was murdered. In her book Starting Over, she makes dark insinuations about shadowy forces who are unnamed, but whose dimly described outline strongly suggests the executors of Jackson’s estate and AEG Live, the company promoting his London comeback performances. The reason for her brother’s early death two years ago, at the age of 50? Apparently nefarious players wanted to get their hands on Jackson’s lucrative publishing catalogue.

“He told me repeatedly that he was going to be murdered,” said La Toya, 55, speaking over the phone from New York. “They were going to murder him because they were after his publishing catalogue. I said, ‘You’re Michael Jackson, no one would ever do that to you.’ But he said, ‘You don’t understand what it’s worth.’ ”

She related this conversation rapidly, as if hoping that speaking quickly would gloss over the fact that she never actually names who “they” are, or how “they” ended the King of Pop’s life. “If you read the book,” she said in the small, breathless voice shared by many Jacksons, “it directs you to exactly what he said would happen.” What about Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson’s personal physician, accused of involuntary manslaughter, who will be tried in two months on charges that he administered the sedatives and surgical anesthetic that led to the pop star’s death?

“Of course he was involved, and yes, he was the fall guy,” said Jackson. “But he was not the only one. This is a conspiracy.” (Murray has pleaded not guilty to the charges.)

Unfortunately, she doesn’t lay out the exact nature of the conspiracy, perhaps because the siblings, who had been so close as children, encountered each other only intermittently in Los Angeles restaurants toward the end, with their conversation seemingly limited to compliments over each other’s accessories. La Toya didn’t see her brother between his trial on child-abuse charges (he was acquitted in 2005) and May, 2009, a month before his death.

There were forces controlling her brother, she says, who tried to keep him isolated from his family. La Toya recognized her brother’s predicament, because she too was the subject of an abusive and controlling relationship. Much of her memoir is devoted to a chronicle of the torment she suffered at the hands of Jack Gordon, her late husband. It was Gordon, she says, who loathed her family and forced her to make the notorious statement at a Tel Aviv press conference in 1993 when she condemned Michael as a child molester. (Her brother forgave her for the very public betrayal, according to the memoir.) She quotes from a song she wrote about her former husband -- but before she does, she adds that it’s available on iTunes: “I should have left you but I had no chance/A profit to you with the size of my pants/You controlled me with my own finance.”

Despite such offerings, La Toya has not had quite the success in the music world as her younger brother. But the picture she paints of Michael is a man who was unable to take comfort from his success, an anxious wanderer in the last few years of his life, surrounded by a coterie of sinister puppet-masters. Toward the end, she writes, Jackson was so sure he would be harmed that he wore a bullet-proof vest in public. He was terrified that he wouldn’t be able to complete the 50 sold-out shows he’d been booked to perform in London.

The last time she saw him was a month before his death, at their parents’ 60th wedding anniversary, when he arrived looking even more fragile than usual, and swathed in layers of clothing so no one would realize just how thin he actually was.

Said his sister, “It’s so sad, because I had the chance to start over again, and Michael didn’t.” Or, she might have added, to tell his own side of the story.

La Toya Jackson: Star talks Michael Jackson, 'Starting Over' book

Posted Image

The sister of Michael Jackson, La Toya Jackson over the past few weeks has been generating headlines over the new book that she has released entitled, "Starting Over." In the book Jackson discusses her previous marriage, and talks about the shocking passing of her brother, the iconic singer. It has already been two years since the star's passing, but fans around the world are hoping to see justice attained for the star, and to know of what truly took place on June 25, 2009.

As Us Magazine reports, La Toya Jackson said of writing the book, "Starting Over": "I started writing the book in February 2008 and finished 2 months ago. I put it on the back burner because I didn’t want people to think, 'oh she is putting the book out because people are talking about Janet's Super Bowl incident and Michael's court appearance.' Unfortunately Michael passed so I waited until everything was straightened out. The company wanted me to incorporate Michael and I realized he is a part of my life and he just passed so people are going to think I was selfish if I didn't include him." She went on to explain: "People think I am crazy. I tell myself, 'I know who I am and as long as God knows who I am, that is all that matters. God knows that I am a good person. I don't care what other people think. That is what kept me sane because if I thought about what others think about me, I would crush, cry, and die."

La Toya Jackson's new book has been very successful, and the fans have been looking forward to reading it, and since its release, many fans have read the book. Jackson has also appeared on various talk shows to discuss the book as well.

What do you think of what La Toya Jackson had to say about the new book that she has written? Have you read "Starting Over" yet, and if so, what do you think of what she reveals in the book?
