SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – Helicopter flights over Neverland Ranch in California are being booked for the second anniversary of Michael Jackson's death.
The singer was 50 when he died on June 25, 2009. He owned the Neverland Ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley for years.
Oxnard-based Channel Island's Helicopters says the half-hour "Flight Over Neverland" event costs $175 per person and $500 for a private flight of up to three people.
The Santa Barbara News-Press reports the flights run from 9 a.m. to sunset on June 24 and June 25.
A spokesman for the company says it has already booked about 100 passengers, with more seats still available for June 25.
The flights depart Santa Barbara Municipal Airport on June 24 and Santa Ynez Airport on June 25.

Fans mourn Michael Jackson, two years on

LOS ANGELES (AFP) – Michael Jackson fans paid their respects Saturday to the late King of Pop on the second anniversary of his shock death, as his famous "Thriller" video jacket went under the hammer in Los Angeles.
Fans were allowed to place flowers by the singer's mausoleum at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park just outside Los Angeles, where he died from an overdose of powerful sedative propofol on June 25, 2009, aged 50.
"He just wanted to make the world a better place, and now that he's gone, that lives on through the fans who love him," fan Linda Higgins told KABC television.
"We're carrying that message and his mission through us," she added outside the mausoleum in Glendale, where Jackson's close friend Elizabeth Taylor was laid to rest nearby in March.
The anniversary was more low-key than one year after his death, when the singer's siblings gathered at the picturesque cemetery, and were joined by thousands of fans.
This year, Jackson's father Joe was reported to have been seen at his son's memorial early in the day.
Two years after Michael Jackson's surprise death, the mystery over exactly how he died continues to fuel legal wrangling, conspiracy theories and family strains.
His personal doctor Conrad Murray is still awaiting trial on manslaughter charges for allegedly giving Jackson an overdose of propofol to help him sleep on that fateful morning at his Beverly Hills mansion.
Days ahead of the second anniversary of his death, Jackson's sister La Toya published a new book reiterating her claim that he may have been murdered, and had voiced fears to her that someone was out to kill him for financial reasons.
"I truly feel Dr Murray was simply the fall guy. I think it's too easy to blame him. I think the investigation needs to go a bit further than just stopping at Dr Murray," she said ahead of the book's publication this week.
On Saturday, the famous red and black leather jacket worn by Jackson in the iconic "Thriller" video was going under the block.
Auctioneer Darren Julien called the jacket "the most recognized and significant piece of pop culture" at a two-day Music Icons sale, and said he expected it to fetch at least $200,000.
In downtown Los Angeles, the Grammy Museum -- the music industry body's showcase -- opened a permanent exhibit devoted to Jackson, including two of his famous sequined gloves.
Elsewhere, Jermaine Jackson sang a tribute to his late brother, on the eve of Saturday's anniversary, on the sidelines of the 2011 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) in Toronto, Canada.
In Las Vegas -- where a permanent show by the Cirque du Soleil troupe is due to open -- a shooting incident reportedly clouded a tribute by fans visiting a home where Jackson lived during a stint in the casino capital.
Police rushed to the scene when gunshots were heard from a few houses away -- although initial reports said the victim was a dog, shot by a police officer after it attacked him, according to the TMZ celebrity website.
Fans also posted their comments on Jackson's official website, where an anniversary message trumpeted the "indescribably unique spirit that still connects Michael today with countless fans in a way that knows no borders."
"I can't stop crying because you were so loved by everyone. I have pictures of you all over my house, and every day I talk to you as though you are still here," wrote one, Mama60Jama.

It also includes an indescribably unique spirit that still connects Michael today with countless fans in a way that knows no borders, no cultural barriers and which speaks a common language of unity and compassion. Our thoughts and prayers are especially with his children as we fondly remember the Michael Jackson whose friendship, humor and kindness joyously touched so many lives."

I dont aree with that. Seems like it was all for money. I doubt thee would be much to see at Neverland apart from the house. All the rides and carnival tents are gone. I also heard fans would throw roses from the helicopter into Neverland.

It probably was for the money. But I'm sure most fans would like to have a look. Me included.

Here's the article and pics about that flight.

Heli Tour Company Flies Die-Hard Michael Jackson Fans over His Former Santa Barbara Estate.

The planning of their pilgrimage to Michael Jackson's grave in Los Angeles, for the second anniversary this week of the music icon's death, hit a lucky patch when Brendan Nolan and Jody Flower discovered that a Santa Barbara helicopter tour company offers flights over M.J.'s fabled Neverland Ranch. After booking two seats with Channel Islands Helicopters for a morning trip, the young couple from Bath, England, made their way north.

They took a moment Friday to recollect their British reserve during the emotional day and share their thoughts before becoming the first fans to hover over Jackson's sprawling property in the Santa Ynez Valley. Friends, before the two set off for the U.S., called them “jammy” (lucky).
“It's an honor to be here for both of us,” said 22-year-old Flower, who works at her parents' transportation business, Chariots of Leisure. “Michael was a great person,” she went on, saying she and Nolan stuck by him during his legal troubles when others were too quick to write him off. “He wouldn't hurt a fly,” she reminisced as Nolan nodded solemnly in agreement. Nolan said his favorite M.J. song is “Man in the Mirror”; Flower's is “Earth Song.”
“We both like his music, but we also really respect what he did for charity,” said 26-year-old Nolan, an engineer. “People didn't pay enough attention to the good things he did.” Nolan said he had planned on buying tickets for Jackson's highly anticipated “This Is It” comeback tour, but instead used the money for their trip to California.

Neverland Ranch, June 24, 2011
Before this reporter sat down with the couple, I was offered an opportunity to take a 30-minute tour above what, is actually, only a poignant shadow of what used to be the Neverland Ranch. Piloted by Channel Islands Helicopters' Josh Jones with company owner Dan Casey in the co-pilot position, the yellow four-seater took off from the Santa Ynez Airport under a quilt of fog and quickly buzzed to a clip of 120 mph toward a patch of clear sky near Jackson's four-square-mile estate.
As the valley opened below, with red-roofed ranches and dot-sized cows sprinkling the rural landscape, Casey explained that Friday's tours were completely sold out but a few slots were still open for Saturday. He expected to take around 150 reservations total and had clients coming from eight overseas countries so far. When the Associated Press reported on his company's offer earlier in the week, his office was inundated with calls.
Each flight group is given a safety briefing, Casey said, and handed flowers of remembrance to drop onto nearby Zaca Peak overlooking the property. Fans can attach personal notes to the flowers if they want, Casey went on, as M.J.'s greatest hits are played through the helicopter's headsets.

In mere minutes, Neverland's train station came into view and we began circling what had been both Jackson's private sanctuary and decadent amusement park. One of the spots on the lot that appears fully maintained, the station — with its flower clock (accurate, by the way), coiffed hedges, and baby blue trim — stands in stark contrast to dilapidated play structures, an abandoned zoo, and lonely platforms that used to showcase carnival rides. The exotic animals and over-the-top installations were carted away long before Jackson's death.
Jackson left Neverland in 2005, promising never to return after he was accused, but eventually acquitted, of molesting a child there. Unable to pay the $24.5 million he owed on the property in 2008, the pariahed Jackson sold his defaulted loan to real estate investor Tom Barrack. Soon thereafter most of the items that made Neverland so recognizable, though infamous, disappeared. Barrack has since expressed interest in refurbishing the property. In July 2010, California legislators floated the idea of buying the land and turning it into a state park, but the suggestion was quickly dismissed considering the state's bone-dry budget.
Looking past patches of overgrown grass and slightly shabby structures, the estate's movie theater, front gate, and main house seem — from 500 feet above — well-kept. The swimming pool and tennis court are bright blue and green, respectively, and the pathways between them are clean and lined with freshly clipped shrubbery. The massive oaks and other trees surrounding the main house, however, all but shield it from a bird's-eye view.

Jody's note to Michael
The tour was over in a flash, and we headed back — spotting on the way a few dozen fans gathered at Neverland's far outside gate — so pilot Jones could pick up the next group. In line after them were a trio of giddy Italian women filling out paperwork and glancing expectantly at the tarmac.
Before she boarded, Flower jotted a quick note to M.J. (Nolan did too, but said it was too personal to share.) His girlfriend's message read: “Dear Michael, It's an honor to be here today, you were a legend, so talented and a caring person who wanted to help and change the world. You were [a] great person. I hope you are at peace. Love, Jody Flower.”
“That's very nice,” Nolan said after he read it, turning to Flower with a sad smile. “Thanks,” she replied, and looked down.

You Are Not Alone: Michael Jackson's children find strength in each other on the second anniversary of father's death
Michael Jackson's children put on a brave face yesterday, just two days before the second anniversary of their father's death.
Prince and Paris' close relationship has helped them heal following the trauma of losing their role model.
The siblings, who bear a striking resemblance to one another, shared a joke and smiled together as they headed to the cinema.

Earlier this week, they were presented with custom-made Michael Jackson memorial motorcycles.
Family friend Marcell 'Porkchop' Miller designed the bikes, plastering them with images of the King of Pop through various stages of his career.
The specially crafted vehicles will be driven through Forrest Lawn cemetery tomorrow to honour the Billie Jean legend.
On June 25, 2009, the award-winning idol died of acute propofol intoxication after he suffered cardiac arrest at his LA home.

Larking about: Prince makes his sister smille as he listens to his iPod in one ear

Symbolic? Both Prince and Paris wore matching pendants today
Jackson's hometown of Gary, Indiana - where he lived until 1969 - are also planning a tribute to mark his passing, and promise to do so every year.
Mayor Rudy Clay said: 'The world can expect a "Tribute to Michael" every year in June in Gary, Indiana. The world is invited.'
Prince and Paris are clearly doing their best to carry on as normal, despite the tragedy. The pair both opted for a casual look, dressing down in jeans and combat trousers, and wearing matching necklaces with identical pendants.
WHAT COULD THE PENDANTS SYMBOLISE?
The pendants sported by Michael Jackson's eldest children so close to the anniversary of his death are most likely to be another tribute to their late father.
The identical trinkets feature a flower with six petals inside a circle, which is a symbol of life and eternal life in several religions, including Islam, and the Jewish off-shoot, Kabbalah.
Jackson embraced both at different periods during his life, and though he was said to have converted to Islam two years before his death, Judaism and the L.A Kabbalah centre were important to him.
He wore the trademark red string bracelet in court during his child molestation trial, and was tutored in the religion by his great friend, Elizabeth Taylor.
The flower could represent the Star of David, and both Paris and Prince are Jewish via their birth mother, Debbie Rowe, although they have no relationship.
Despite only being 14 and 13 respectively, both teenagers looked older than their years, and could easily pass for 16 or 17.
Their uncanny similarity derives from mother Debbie Rowe, while half-brother Prince Michael II was born from an unknown donor through artificial insemination from a surrogate mother using Jackson's sperm.
Their little brother, usually referred to as Blanket, joined them and their cousins, Jermaine Jackson's children, in Thousand Oaks, California.
Ignoring sunny 21ºC temperatures, the group opted to hide in a cool auditorium instead of relishing the good weather outside.
Blanket, 9, didn't look quite as relaxed as his siblings, but did show off his jovial side with his T-shirt slogan.
The youngest member of the family wore a top with, 'Things for Today: Brush Teeth. Be Awesome' on it.

Is it just me or Paris is becoming grown up lady day by day
I noticed Prince and Paris often have the same pendants. Although I am not sure what it means but it makes me wonder why Blanket doesn't have those.
Maybe it's somehow related with school, not their father.
