World’s worst song is net sensation
WITH robotic vocals and lyrics that make the Cheeky Girls look insightful, it could be the worst song EVER.
Video: Rebecca Black - Friday
Teen high school pupil becomes internet sensation with novelty party track
Rebecca Black's track Friday has been slammed as "hilariously bad".
Yet the autotuned song and its lo-fi video – showing the 13-year-old gyrating uncomfortably with girl pals – has notched more than 16MILLION YouTube hits.
Rebecca has even out-trended the Japanese earthquake and tsunami on Twitter.
With lyrics as bad as "Yesterday was Thursday, today is Friday, tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards", some suggest it is an elaborate spoof of sugary Justin Bieber-like tween tunes.
But it seems the track really is serious, with the Californian singer tweeting: "So honoured, so many amazing and talented people actually KNOW of my song."
Friday was written for her by Ark Music Factory, a Hollywood firm that offers rich parents the chance to turn their kids into pop stars – for around £1,200.
Time magazine labelled the song "a whole new level of bad" and website Yahoo questioned if it is the worst one of all time.
But Rolling Stone writer Matthew Perpetua stuck up for it, saying: "It actually gets a lot of things about pop music right, if just by accident."
The torturous track, read the lyrics on the right, has now spawned a host of internet parodies – including a dubstep cover and a "screamo" punk version.
Friday may be a joke – a horrible song to be sniggered at over lunchbreaks and at parties.
But with the teen set to cash in after it hit the iTunes UK Top 40, maybe the joke is on us.

I have to agree cause it all just sounds stupid. Listen the lyrics. In first verse she is singing about how she got up in the morning lol then she goes to the car full of friends singing about which seat should she take although the front seat is already taken
Besides what kind of topic is that - which seat should she take? As the guy in the first video of the second post said - it's a question of a lifetime
And on the top of it all, in the end of the song she is naming another days of the week telling us its order. The person who wrote a song really thought we are that stupid that we already don't know an order?!

I should agree that's the worst song that I have heard. But I must say that song has got a very sticky melody. Well, I think bad songs always have this problem, because probably the lyrics are too stupid to remember......

Wonder.. LOL. I love songs with no meaning.
but I agree, the melody is very catchy. But it doesn't makes the song to be more valuable anyway. The song is nothing. The lyrics is about nothing.

It's very rare, that I listen deeply to the lyrics. So this song is catchy as you say. It has nice melody and beat. So I like it.
But her voice could be better. So it's not a song that I would buy or listen to many times.

The lyrics are very important for me. The song could be a good melody but if it doesn't have lyrics then it's nothing. The good song is made from good melody, good lyrics, good mix and good voice.
Very often I start to like a song just cause it has beautiful and meaningful lyrics.

Good voice, good melody is enough for me.
Bad voice and brilliant lyric wouldn't do it for me.
