I spent the weekend reading interviews and articles about him and I have to tell I didn't know so much about him! He reminded me of Michael in the way how he also wanted to make the world a better place. Besides his childhood was very tragic.
His father was sailor and he returned only once in 6 months. Sailors got very good money that he sent to Mārtiņš mother. Cause of the money she didn't have to work and she became alcoholic and started to see lots of other men. While mother was enjoying her time with drinks and men, Mārtiņš was hiding in kitchen's closet. When once father came home and found out about his son's mother behavior, he took off mother rights from her and refused from son as well. Mārtiņš almost got in orphanage but father's mother agreed to take him. She was very strict and always blaming her son for pushing the kid to her for raising. Mārtiņš had to hide in neighbor's house when his mother went to visit him cause she tried to steal him few times. His father also didn't visit him often. He promised Mārtiņš he would take him when he would make a new family. He made a new family but he said Mārtiņš doesn't really belong there. In school everybody was beating him till he changed in high school when organized his own band. When he was 18 years old he moved to one of the biggest cities in Latvia that was near his small city and entered University. He didn't had any money other than money from Uni that was very less to feed himself and live. He rented one room flat without heating other than wood heat that he sometimes tried to steal. Sometimes he didn't even have anything to eat for a week and then he went to his friends from country side who had lots of food from home. In the morning he would wake up and his hair would be freeze to the pillow (as he said it). He didn't finish Uni cause he got sick from not having enough food and he started to work.
He became famous when he played the leading role in one of the greatest musicals in Latvia. Although ppl loved him and told all the good words they didn't know he was still starving cause of the role he had to leave his work and theatre made contract to please theatre, not him and he got just 40$ from 9 plays or something although the plays always were sold out
Continuing on their parents. His father drowned in sea at the time when he was on Eurovision with Hello From Mars. He also found out where his mother is and after 24 years not seeing his mother he went to visit her in some kind of madhouse. Only she didn't recognize him and even don't remember she ever had a son
But he always said to not make drama out of his life cause he doesn't think about past and he is happy now (well he was happy).
He also always have loved animals. He had 2 cats, a dog that you see on pics that he took from pet shelter, fish, 2 turtles, used to have also two rats and parrot but I guess they died not so soon ago.
And what I really didn't know was that in every monday he went to church to make food for homless ppl. He then was greeting them and giving candies to homless women and apple to men

He was also helping ppl on streets if any would fall and he always were wondering why no one is helping. Once he said there were some women who apperantly was little but too drunk and she said they were celebrating at work something and she drunk too much (and it's not something strange to Mārtiņš cause he also liked to drink) and women asked if he could carry her till the buss stop. And he said, why not and carried her all way till the buss stop lol then he asked ppl standin in stop could they make sure she gets in the buss and later she would know in which stop she should jump off and all 16 ppl just ignored him. He was getting mad cause ppl nowdays just don't care about others.
Also the cute story was when reading that he liked to walk around centre and plant flowers or beans cause he thought they look so beautiful when blooming
He said then once he would walk on street sad and then he would see his bean blooming and he would be happy again
And as Michael he was trying to find family in other families (like Michael in Cascious) since he didn't have parents. He also said he never found his women cause no women could live with his living style. He said public owns him and he is for public so he din't think he would ever make his own family especially if he was afraid to hurt his children like his parent hurt him
And he also had insomnia sometimes. He said he couldn't live without music. He often couldn't sleep cause there would be melodies in his head and he had to tell to himself "Just don't sing, just don't sing". If he wouldn't sing for 3 days he would go crazy.
He was also very selfless, he gave everything to others. He would even go to filming when he had 40 C. His friends said he was already sick but he still didn't visit doctor cause he said he has things to do, recordings and TV serial filming (which is the biggest Latvian serial and he was filming there 3-4 years already). Then one day after filming he was taken to the hospital where after 8 days he died
I have no idea why I write this in here. I know you don't really care that much about him since you don't know him but my heart is full and I had to write about it. Reading and knowing about Michael's life and about life of Mārtiņš also inspire me to do good. It's a real tragedy when so good ppl have to die so young
and I am also thinking about Michael here. 50 is also young for death. I believe ppl like those become guardian angels

I was drawing him in the beginning of 2000s and I gave him 2 drawings. The third I always were thinking to send to him but somehow I didn't 
And this is just example and here he is talking about angels, in the night flying away (he died 1.20am), winter and snow. I believe we all know when we will die and maybe also how but we don't realize that untill it happens.
