I think this story is very touching. I've read it translated in Latvian few weeks ago and it brought me tears. Yesterday I found a beautiful site with some inspiring and touching stories. If you are interested, here it is http://touching-insp...ry.blogspot.com Anyway, I remembered this story and thought to share it further with ppl. The story is told to be true from real life.

Here is the little girl with her dog :luv

A Beautiful Soul Works In The Us Postal Service

The day after she died, my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey.

She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her.

She dictated and I wrote:

Dear God, Will you please take special care of our dog, Abbey? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven.

We miss her very much. We are happy that you let us have her as our dog even though she got sick.

I hope that you will play with her. She likes to play with balls and swim.

I am sending some pictures of her so that when you see her in heaven you will know she is our special dog. I really miss her.

Love, Meredith Claire

P.S.: Mommy wrote the words after Mer told them to her.

We put the letter in an envelope with two pictures of Abbey, and addressed it “To: God in Heaven.” We put our return address on it, and Mer stuck several stamps on the front (because, as she said, it would take lots of stamps to get a letter all the way to heaven).

I took her to the post office and she dropped the letter into the mailbox. For the next few days, she would ask if God had received the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.

On Labour Day, we took the kids to Austin to a natural history museum. When we got back, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch. It had a card on the front, addressed "To: Mer" in an unfamiliar hand.

Meredith opened the package. Inside was a book by Fred Rogers (of TV’s Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood), When a Pet Dies.

Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God, in its opened envelope (which was marked “Return to Sender: Insufficient address”).

On the facing page, one of the pictures of Abbey was taped under the words "For Meredith."

We turned to the inside back cover, and there was the other picture of Abbey and this handwritten note on pink paper:

Dear Meredith,

You will be happy to know that Abbey arrived safe and sound in heaven.

Having the pictures you sent was a big help. I recognized Abbey right away. Abbey isn't sick any more. Her spirit is here with me — just like she stays in your heart — young and running and playing. Abbey loved being your dog.

Since we don't need our bodies in heaven, I don't have any pockets! — so I can't keep your beautiful letter. I am sending it back to you with the pictures so that you will have this book to keep and remember Abbey.

One of my angels is taking care of this for me. I hope the little book helps. Thank you for the beautiful letter. Thank your mother for sending it. What a wonderful mother you have! I picked her especially for you.

I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much.

By the way, I am easy to find: I am in heaven and wherever there is love.

Love, God (and the special angel who wrote this after God told her the words)

that is not what the story is about. The matter is what the person did for a child.

It is. We don't want the postmen to open our letters.
He was very very lucky here.
It could as well be that he was reported to the post office and fired.
He did something illegal and deserves to be punished.

I don't say the story didn't have a good end in this case, but it's not right to do this and it should not be seen as a good act.

why do you always look for something bad in everything? It's a very beautiful story so don't ruin it! You are very negative about everything. You can't even enjoy simple things without saying something bad.

it's a very nice and touching story :)

come on, Nikolaj, when you see on the envelope “To: God in Heaven.”, it's easy to understand that a small child wrote that

it would be crazy to fire the postman for opening the specific letter :XmasHello:

You people just never want to follow laws.
It's like if it's a good cause, then laws means nothing.

I already said it's a touching story.

But it's still a crime to open letters, no matter who they are for.

when normal person reads such a story they don't think about laws, they are touched, some maybe drop some tear like I did. When programmist reads such a story they talk about laws cause they don't think with heart. Their heart is meant just to pump blood for their organism, not for feelings. They don't even know how to use their heart. I have never and will never understand such ppl without emotions or feelings to who what comes to their mine after reading such a beautiful story, is law. :crazy No compation to other human being, whenever he is hurt or not.
