I was there in 2001 for Michaels Tribute Concerts and I was due to fly out on the 12th. I was staying in a hostel in Harlem and sharing a room with 4 other girls it was a good bit away from the center. I was going to stay outside Michaels hotel that night but luckly I didn't (i know some fans who did though).
When I woke up that day a girl came into the room i was staying in and said the Twin Towers were hit and I wondered to myself how that could happen when they are so high. Not realising then it was a terrorist attack. My brother was working close to the area that day and he went to meet me at the hotel. I think he walked all the way as there was no transport going anywhere. He bought a personal stereo so he could find out if any trains were going.
We walked many miles until the trains started running. I remember I could see the smoke coming from the buildings when I crossed a bridge. No traffic would travel on the bridges incase they were going to be bombed.
Luckly the trains did start running again and we got to his house. I didnt get home until 6 days later. I was talking to an irish man in a pub there that day and he said he seen the planes go into the buildings.
God Bless the victims and there families.
