Michael Jacksons' brothers are a flop in new A&E Jackson 4 reality show, critics say.
The New York Times says Michael Jacksons' brothers "have fascinating lives, but they're not fascinating people."
New York Daily News calls it "Light on anything interesting," and falls short on showing first-time ever inside revelations.
If you like watching scripted "everyday" activities of 50-something men who are related to the late King of Pop Michael Jackson but seem nothing like him, then OK, maybe "The Jack5ons: A Family Dynasty" will hold your attention for an hour. Maybe it'll be fun to see what Jermaine looks like now if you had always pictured him as a teen-ager. How long until that novelty wears off?
Here's what the Boston Globe said:
"The premise of the series, before Michael Jackson died on June 25, was to chronicle the 40th anniversary reunion of the Jackson 5. The better part of tonight’s first hour is set in the months before Michael’s death, and we see Tito, Jermaine, Jackie, and Marlon convening to talk about making music again. Amid the affectionate bickering, a birthday call to sister Janet, and a dance class, there’s no mention of Michael’s participation, and that question is negated when Michael dies. Lest we think that the surviving brothers are now trying to cash in after Michael’s death, the second hour gives us a scene of their lawyer telling them they are obligated by contract to perform together. They’re still doing this because they have to, you see."
So if you're a Michael Jackson fan, then maybe this isn't the show for you.
The critics are probably still being too diplomatic. Why not just say: It has no substance and is downright boring!
In my opinion, that shortfall is enough to sink a reality show in its first season.

What do the critics know? Nothing, if you ask me. I think the Jackson Brother's reality show is great, and I hope that others support it. I, have been a fan since I was a teenager. Michael, is truly missed it is still hard for me knowing that he is no longer here. He left his mark on the WORLD, with his legacy to follow. Love, to the entire Jackson Family.
