Marlon Jackson Speaks About 'Blacked Up' Jackson 5 Tribute Act
He doesn't think it was meant to be offensive...
Marlon Jackson says he does not believe a Jackson 5 tribute act meant to cause offence when they performed with 'blacked up' faces on Australian TV.
The Jackson Jive have attracted criticism from around the world following their appearance on variety show Hey Hey It's Saturday.
Four singers from the group wore afro wigs and had black make-up on their faces, while the singer pretending to be Michael Jackson had white make-up on.
US singer Harry Connick Jr, a guest judge on the programme, said at the time that he had been shocked by the group's performance.
But in an interview with Access Hollywood, Marlon Jackson said: “Man, if they turned up looking like that in the United States!
“They probably weren’t trying to be offensive about it or anything of that nature with the family.
“We thank Harry for [speaking out], but we also understand that they weren’t trying to be disrespectful for the family.”
The Jackson Jive have since apologised for their performance, insisting it “was really not intended to be anything to do with racism at all”.
The skit came just three months after the death of Michael Jackson at the age of 50.

im not sure racism or anything to do with racism?as for me i thought the jackson jive was cool version of a tribute to michael and his family
and some kind of racism joke
also i think harry had forgot how to have fun and got offend way too soon

I haven't seen the video. But why to have black or white make up at all? Thiller Live was a good example. They were just like they are. They didn't pretend to be somebody else.
