The statues of men are people who fought for Ireland during the war with Britian in 1916. Britian was trying to take over all of Ireland and this war happened after this war Ireland won and we got our independence.

The female statue is of Molly Malone she sold fruit and vegetables by day and worked after dark as a lady of the night.

The river is close to where I live and its very nice I will put some more pics I took of it here.

Heres what I found about the ingredients.

Baileys was the first liqueur to use cream and alcohol together in a manner sufficiently stable to allow commercial distribution. The cream and whiskey are homogenized to form an emulsion, with the aid of an emulsifier containing refined vegetable oil. This process prevents separation of the whiskey and cream during storage. The quantity of other ingredients used is not known but they include chocolate, vanilla, caramel and sugar.

According to the manufacturer no preservatives are required, the whiskey alone is used to preserve the cream.

So Mag that means its good for you ;) but it can be very sweet. If you can get it in Latvia you should try it. They also sell it in chocolates as well :thumbup . BTW I could bring a bottle to Heidis' Birthday ;) and you could try it then.

I didn't know prostitutes are so famous in Ireland :whistling :giggle

Why it;s her but not other prostitutes made in statue? Why she was more famous than others? Just cause of fruit selling? I think guys liked to buy fruits from her so that's why she became famous :giggle

They made a song about her and I think thats why she is so famous. The song was called Molly Malone. Have you ever heard this song? She is the only famous prostitute in Ireland. They also nicked names the statue "the tart with the cart"

Here are the lyrics to the song

In Dublin's fair city,
where the girls are so pretty,
I first set my eyes on sweet Molly Malone,
As she wheeled her wheel-barrow,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!"

"Alive, alive, oh,
Alive, alive, oh",
Crying "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh".

She was a fishmonger,
And sure 'twas no wonder,
For so were her father and mother before,
And they each wheeled their barrow,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!"

(chorus)

She died of a fever,
And no one could save her,
And that was the end of sweet Molly Malone.
Now her ghost wheels her barrow,
Through streets broad and narrow,
Crying, "Cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh!"

(chorus)

You can watch Sinead O'Connor singing it here

The lyrics sounds sad. I will watch video tomorrow when my bf will not sleep hehe

Anyway, I think song about prostitute is ok. Latvians have a song about killer who killer I think at least 9 ppl or 19, don't remember. He did his crimed during 1920s. We even had rockoper about him :lol one of my fav I should say

Yes it is a sad song more of a ballad then a pop or rock song. Its also funny how criminals have songs about them. Some old Irish songs have that theme as well.
