1971 - The Jackson Five began a U.S. tour at the Coliseum in Charlotte, NC.
1996 - Michael Jackson visited Nelson Mandela in Pretoria, South Africa. He also announced that he was working on a film about Mandela.
2004 - Michael Jackson's publicist denied a report in US Weekly that Jackson was about to become a father to quadruplets via a surrogate mother. A spokesperson for US Weekly told Reuters that is stands by its story and cite unnamed sources close to Jackson as confirming the story.

1995 - A Los Angeles Superior Court judge dismissed a suit against Michael Jackson. The suit had been filed by five former security guards.
2003 - Michael Jackson said that he believed that the U.S. Congress should make no laws that would put people in jail for illegally downloading songs over the Internet.

1998 - Disneyland Paris announced that August 17, 1998 would be the last day that Michael Jackson's Captain EO will be shown.
2004 - A media lawyer filed a 50-page appeal with the California 2nd District Court of Appeal asking the court to not allow special rules of secrecy for celebrity defendants. The case in question was the ongoing Michael Jackson child molestation case.

1968 - The Jackson Five signed a one-year contract with Motown.
1997 - "The Best of Michael Jackson And The Jackson 5" hit #5 in the U.K.
2004 - A motion was unsealed by Santa Barbara County Superior Court Judge Rodney Melville in the Michael Jackson child molestation case. The motion, filed and sealed on July 13, was a call from Jackson's defense team to delay the trail four months. The motion was unsealed a day before a hearing was to be held on the motion.
